General thoughts on the series at this point:
The writing in regards to the difference between citizens of No.6 and elsewhere is starting to grate on me; not because it's not a good concept but because every time it's mentioned there's paragraphs upon paragraphs of something we just heard about in depth not a chapter earlier. We just keep hitting the same note, which maybe wouldn't have bothered me as much had I read these as they cameout and not all at once, but even within the same volume it gets repetitive.

Also not sure how I feel about the development that No. 6 has only been around for what is maybe 40 or 50 years? And that there's groups of people living underground in caves that Nezumi used to be a part of. That was a bit of an odd turn in the story and it disappointed me a bit. Still looking forward to finishing the series.

"People can't become God. Humans can't create Paradise. You guys thought you could be God, an almighty Creator. You thought you were all-powerful. That moment is when you fell. You began to corrupt. The cogwheels started turning backwards. You stopped paying heed to people's feelings, and their suffering and brutality were no longer in your line of sight. All you had was your greed to satisfy your ideologies-no, your own selfish desires."

The fact that Shion felt guilty for what happened to Nezumi in the past is suffocating. Also everything that happened here... When Nezumi called Shion nature as monster and he making Shion as an allegory of No.6... wow.

"They were beautiful like the dawning sky.
A lightening sky at morning conjoined somewhere with the hope of life. It was a glow that lauded people who had resolved to live, or at least try to live, through today. That was why it was beautiful.
I've gotten so much hope from the beauty of these eyes."

This volume was absolutely incredible. The intensity reaches impossible peaks as Nezumi and Shion get closer and closer to the Correctional Facility. Everyone around them prepares for the massacre that is going to be the Holy Day. And I absolutely loved it !

We finally get more information on Nezumi and his past, which was as interesting as it was heartbreaking. It is also linked with new informations about the origins of No. 6. There's still so much more we have to learn, but the pieces of the puzzle are coming into place, and what an horrible picture it paints. It's getting really critical of human nature and the society we live in today. The story is getting darker and darker and I don't think I'm ready for the heartbreak of the last three volumes.

I'm always in awe of how well written every character is. The psychology of Shion especially is so complex, I feel like I could write an entire novel about it. In this especially, seeing him coming to terms with very complex ethical issues that their different encounters brought up was so interesting. It did slow the pace down a lot, but I feel like it does accomplish his purpose wonderfully. It also serves in building his relationship with Nezumi even more.

I'm half excited half terrified of reading the next one, especially knowing what's coming. But I can't wait to see just how much the novel will bring to the events I remember.

The plot thickens! This volume focused more on Nezumi's past and the birth of No.6 which was great. It was an enjoyable, quick read and I can't wait to read the next volume! Finally, they've come so far! Reunion will come!

This book was about Nezumi's past and the beginning of no.6, so I enjoyed know more of Nezumi, he's very interesting.

Also all the restictions in number 6 and his false idea of utopia are interesting too.
