It’s a decent read to get into the gist of what feminism is. It is a little older but the issues presented are very much relevant to this day.

Most of the info and issues in this book are pretty basic. An intro to feminism type thing. Which I guess is nice if you don't know much about the issues, but most of the information here was stuff I already knew. I guess it makes a nice overview and a starting point for looking further at certain issues, which the resource guide in the back would be helpful for. But not really that informative for most people who know much about feminism and its issues at all.

Also. I know it's trying to be casual and cool, but the whole "fuck yeah, feminism is fucking awesome!" thing got kind of grating. I get the righteous anger and enthusiasm for the cause and whatever, but I dunno, I wanted more of a mix of serious and casual I guess. That may have partly been due to the overview nature of the book though. There really wasn't much in depth talk to get more serious about. Though the style does make it an easy read. (I've been trying to read Manifesta at the same time and it's a bit more of a slog.)

A good overview of Feminism. I'd highly recommend this as a gift for someone who you wanted to introduce to the ideas.

While this book isn't perfect it is a great place for someone who is looking for an introduction to feminism.

When I first started reading the book I was bothered by Valenti’s writing. I couldn’t connect with her views. Around the fourth or fifth chapter I realized that I actually could agree with her. I was not bothered by her writing style, but I am part of the demographic she was aiming at. I suggest reading the book even if you hate her writing style, it gets pretty insightful and she has recommended many feminist authors that I am excited to read next.

SMH! When will I learn to read the title!! A young person’s guide it is. Or is it? This book read like a blog post. Super informal and chalk full of expletives. Might be good as a suuuuuuper newbs intro to feminism book- not really for me a forty something woman who’s not new to the idea. The best chapter was Chapter 10 “boys do cry” where her writing style changed slightly. Perhaps a topic she’s less comfortable with? Also the resources chapters. Lots of US based resources but some good resources none the less.

I really liked this book. It was very "readable," written much like the author's blog. FFF raised many good points, but was a bit sensationalist and short on theory. As to the latter, the author admits this, and indicates that the book is really meant to get young women interested in learning more about feminism. While I am not as young as her target audience, the book did get me interested in learning more.
