This book visits the third elemental word of this universe - the word of stone. Which is great on it's own, the story of Halpo and Alfred really starts to come together, but then - zombies in my fantasy book?!? YES, ZOMBIES. The entire plot of this book was much more straightforward then the others, but so many open ends that have been presented in the previous books were tied up with the story. Definitely a book that you don't want to put down!

EXCELLENT. Not what I was expecting at all! Loved it so, so much though. So inventive and unique, this book really came out of left field. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

There was a big gap where I left the book for a bit. Haplo needs to ease up on his prejudice and he seems to be making those steps. Slowly. Very slowly.

Another great installment in this series. It felt tonally different from Elven Star, but not outside of the range I’d expect. A satisfying story that keeps the pages turning

I enjoy these books while I am reading them but find it hard to pick them up again. I do think I will read the whole series as I am interested in Haplo and Alfred’s relationship. I do enjoy their very grey characters.

This one was the darkest of them so far.
