I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would, however, it did annoy me a little that no matter how many times Bobby ran back to Dublin and his friends seemed uninterested in him, he still went back again! Also, I agree with many of the reviews I have read in that the story is nothing about what it says on the blurb, here I was, expecting a murder mystery and instead I end up with some story about a fourteen year old kid who has gone a bit off the rails. Don't get me wrong, I loved it, but it wasn't what I was expecting at all. The only reason it drops a star is that it was just a little bit unrealistic in the way Bobby kept on trying to run to Dublin and then when his mother went back there, he ran to Clare.

As a kid, I LOVED Kate Thompson’s Switchers series. This story had a great premise and was definitely exciting but I felt like it needed 50-100 more pages to be excellent.

Bobby is soon torn between competing desires to learn how to fix cars with a couple of local boys, and simply steal a car to return to his old life. Meanwhile, the ramshackle house they rent seems to be haunted.
