I preferred the first volume's art (love Fiona Staples); the art here is wonderful and great too but just not my favorite style.
I loved little tidbits of Veronica's character development. I cried @ the water fountain part of Archie's parents' story. I also thought the volume was funny, but I don't think the story progressed as much as I would've liked it to.

Something about this one... Just not as eventful as the other two. BUT! That Reggie and Me at the end?! Oh man... I LOVED IT! Totally bumped up the score for the volume as a whole!!

This has been my least favourite volume so far. I don’t like the art style and there is a serious lack of Betty.

4 stars. This volume made me entirely too happy. This is easily my favorite one so far. We got Cheryl and Jason Blossom, Moose, Reggie, Dilton and augggggh my heart is just so happy and full of nostalgia. I wish I knew where all of my old Archie comics were because I would read them all right now. Cheryl came in and did what she does best which is cause chaos and I was here for it. I love her and Veronica's rivalry and petty back and forth antics. I feel like so much happened in this volume and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I might just skip the volumes and start reading these in the single issues because I can't wait for volume 4 to come out.

Often, when there's a series you really enjoy that relies on melodrama and tropes to drive the plot, you reach a point where it just doesn't sit well with you for a while. Think Buffy Season Four or whichever season of Lost or Battlestar Galactica where you realized "These assholes have no idea what they're doing."

It's not necessarily a point beyond recovery. It may just be a stumble. For me, that was the case with Volume Three of Archie.

The beginning of the Cheryl Blossom introduction art just felt more disingenuous than the previous volumes. It wasn't awful, just off. But not full of off. Half tank of off. And it didn't help that I'm not as much of a fan of [a:Joe Eisma|3057364|Joe Eisma|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png]'s art as I am of the previous artists. Like the plot at the beginning, it's not terrible, it's just not as great as its predecessors. I don't like being pulled out of a story by noticing part of an artist's style that doesn't sit well with me. I kept noticing character's noses in this volume of Archie. They were all different, but they all annoyed me. I have no logical dismantling of Eisma's art here. I am not saying he is to noses what Rob Liefeld is to feet. I am just saying that I noticed them, and I rarely sit and read a comic hoping that the noses will sit right with me.

ABout halfway through this volume I was already back on board. I could ignore the noses, and appreciate the thick line work (sometimes I love noticing that someone heavily inks outlines of characters and scenery, if it balances with the colors, and Eisma and [a:Andre Szymanowicz|5784488|Andre Szymanowicz|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png]'s art meshes really well in this collection), and the plot seemed more in line with the first two volumes.

I recommend this for Archie fans, Young Adult enthusiasts with a passion for Mean Girl tropes, people who were bummed out that the first two volumes didn't contain any actually despicable characters, perverts with a thing for cartoon red heads (I've seen those Jessica Rabbit magazines and Dark Phoenix Saga trades with the pages stuck together under your mattress, sicko), and people who like it when a tier L character resurfaces for a fun cameo when their arc seemed previously resolved.

it's your girl cheryl blossom!!

not to be harsh on mark waid or anything but after having watched riverdale i find myself dissatisfied by this portrayal of the blossoms

where is the DRAMA? the gothic housing? the parental units straight out of a v. c. andrews novel?

high school catfighting? THAT'S what you're giving me instead?

sad. just sad
