“Blind power”! Thunder Dog is an interesting memoir that captures an experience where blindness and disaster (9/11) intersect. I appreciate the author’s vulnerability and deeply respect his story. Sprinkled throughout the book are some very poignant comments about the fateful day of 9/11, as well as some empowering commentary on the social world of blind people. These moments, however, are loosely stitched together by a narrative that is not particularly engaging or compelling. I did not like how the book was written, and the appended pieces are wholly repetitive of the main content.
