an interesting story about a pair of twins possessing and consuming the soul of a child on drugs, an… eager… detective inspector, a delusional girl, the girl’s confused sister, and finally one of the twins perspective of trying to consume an horologist. probably should’ve researched the order to read david mitchell’s books cause apparently this ties into his other books but it’s too late now 🤷‍♀️

I liked the hopelessness and trickiness of the story but hated the info-dump and the conclusion.

I read this without knowing anything about The Bone Clocks, which is set in the same universe apparently. As such, the ending came completely out of nowhere for me, which greatly dampened my enjoyment of the book overall. I read other reviews after the fact that said this book stands alone from The Bone Clocks, but I'm not sure I would agree.

It seems many have loved this book, I’m sad that I just couldn’t get into it. I almost DNF’ed this one and I don’t think I gained any enjoyment from finishing it lol. Sometimes if I stick it out, I end up enjoying the book in the end. I didn’t connect with the plot or the characters. The elements were there for things I love, yet this one fell short for me.
