This was an interesting look into the true crime genre through the eyes of the perpetrator and the writer telling the story. There was some exploration around the motivations and culpability of true crime writers (I might have liked more) and an interesting look at women and domestic violence. Essentially the book is about an aspiring true crime writer with her first big story, that of Lore, a woman who lived two separate lives and two marriages, with one husband ultimately killing the other. The story of Lore was quite compelling and well told, I did sometimes think the storyline around the writer was a bit superfluous but I ended up liking how the author tied the two women together.
3.5 stars, this was quite a compelling read, great for vacation reading.

Lore story is interesting living double lives. But I do not care for Cassie, and her digging into other people’s past because “it’s her duty”. Although she’s barely a blogger trying to score a book deal. She mentioned that she felt powerful to define the history of two families. Narcissist anyone?
