This book was less about Anne and Gilbert and their family, and more so the neighbors’ family instead. It still is a classic story of children learning how to be “brought up,” as Anne was in the first few books of the series. I enjoyed the tumultuous feelings of that “bringing up,” though it did have quite a bit more racist remarks in it this time. Eventually it circled back to end with Anne’s firstborn being old enough to go to Queens to study.

A very fun read focusing more so on the friends of the Blythe children who aren’t as privileged but every bit as kind
