Very predictable Christmas love story. Very “Hallmark” movie. Mostly enjoyable.

I found this book in audible plus romance and it had Christmas in the title, so I imagined a completely different book than what this was. It was actually a regular fiction title that happened to have a little bit about Christmas and a bit with the grumpy hermit (and occasionally kind) neighbor next door. The best part of this book was Jenny’s awkwardness with her new friends and every character’s personal journey of growth. I recommend this book

What a heartfelt story of escapism after heartbreak. Jenny is a head strong women determined after going through so much to prove she can make it on her own. Once settled in the cottage she inherited begins to make friends... something she didn't have when living in Scotland. Always in her twin sisters shadow, through this book she grows with confidence and discovers who she is. Well written Beth Moran 👏

3.5 stars rounded up. A super sweet, wonderfully awkward, cozy, full of community Christmas story. Exactly what my heart wants from a holiday romance.

What a heartwarming story, if friendship, self discovery and family. I love the setting of this story, and Jenny, the main character, is beyond endearing. I laughed (and rolled my eyes laughing), and fought the tears as I felt to depths of despair and heartache Jenny felt.
I loved her character growth and she found herself and found a family in the friends of her choosing (and they chose her back too).
I didn’t quite get the romance part, although I got the connection she and Mack had but idk how that translated into love- although I did fall for his McGrumpy persona.

I keep going back and forth between giving this book 2 stars and 3 stars. It's hard for me to give it 2 stars because I cared about the main character, I cared about her friends, I cared about her story but.....the romance was horrible and nothing about this book felt like a Christmas book. I was hoping to read a nice Christmas romance and if that is what you are looking for this isn't it. The writing is great and the story is good but it really depends on what you are looking for.

Spoiler I wish I had read more reviews to see a spoiler about this. The H is married pretty much the entire book. You don't find out he's married and separated but hoping to get back with his wife until you are already into the book. The romance doesn't happen until the very end of the book and I mean they don't kiss or anything and honestly it's not super fulfilling at that point.
