Not really impressed by this set of Novellas but the Body had some good parts to it.
My main critique is that in Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, the way Andy is revealed to be Black is really bad. The story itself is 113 pages and on page 100 Red (who is white Irish guy) says Andy was a good n word.
I’ve read a lot of King and he is not afraid to use slurs especially for certain time periods when it’s more accepted but wow it looks like he really just wanted to use it right before the story wrapped up. It added nothing to the novella.

Andy Dufresne is in Shawshank after being found guilty of killing his wife and her lover…a crime he says he is innocent of. During his time at Shawshank, Andy becomes friends with Red, the prison's go-to man.  After years of getting to know each other, Red is surprised when Andy comes up missing, Red thinks about the events leading up to the escape. This story details Andy's time in prison, how Red believes he escaped, and the possibility of what Andy is doing with his freedom.

Frank Muller did a wonderful job of telling Andy's story through Red's eyes. The different characters and demeanors of each character were fantastic. Muller made the story a joy to listen to and I hope to read more books in which he narrates.

Audio is still the best way for me to imbibe Stephen King and this book was no different. Having watched the movie several times I knew the premise of the story yet still enjoyed hearing the story play out. I am looking forward to my next Stephen King audiobook.

Wow wow wow. Definitely worth the listen with the audiobook! I would’ve given this 5 stars but I couldn’t get into the second story of this collection. The writing was fabulous, I enjoyed every character I came across. Stand outs were Red, the dr in the last story, and Chris in The Body. I feel like these characters were the best I’ve read so far in my obsession with reading King. My favorite was The Shawshank Redemption, The Breathing Method, The Body. I was shaken to my core near the end of The Breathing method that is THE ONLY REASON it tops The Body. I literally stopped breathing….lol. Anyway, this book is definitely worth reading because those three are 5 star reads in my opinion. I want to give these collections a 5 star but unfortunately Apt Pupil messed it up. Maybe I’ll go back and read it one day…who knows.

Some of the stories were super brutal and awful, they left me with a sense of dread while others were almost hopeful. Apt Pupil was not what I expected at all and I hated it. I hated the characters so much, it was dreadful, awful and really portrayed humanity's lows. I really liked Shawshank redemption it was a great novella and the breathing method although sad was a great one as well. Since I liked some stories I gave 3.5
