Une suite monumentale, bien ficelée, pleine de rebondissements et avec les personnages qu’on appréciait déjà dans le premier tome et d’autres que l’on se plait à connaître: déjà hâte au prochain!

A solid continuation of everything the first book sets up, with all the cute art you'd expect. I thought this book was more plot-focused and faster-paced than the first, but that might just be my memory deceiving me.

I really enjoyed both "The Girl and the Galdurian" and "Shadow of the Bird." The story is sweet and whimsical, and the artwork is lush and lovely. I love the character of Bea...and I loved seeing her grow in this second volume. One of my favorite things about these books is how Tim Probert's beautiful art visually represents Bea's anxieties as dark clouds wrapping stranglingly around her. In "Shadow of the Bird," we see Bea start to be able to control this darkness a little bit. The end is not exactly a cliffhanger (in the sense that my soul is going to ache with suspense until the third book comes out), but it is definitely left unresolved, and I am eager to see what direction the story takes next. It feels like it is setting up a possible interesting dynamic of a redeemable villain...

A stellar second volume with more great art (those creatures designs are killer!), answers to questions raised in the first volume, even more questions going forward, and another cliffhanger that's left me positively yearning for the next installment.

I quite literally devoured this in a single sitting, I was so invested.
