I really enjoyed this audiobook. I'm used to reading more historical fiction than I have been lately, and I miss it.

Such a beautiful piece!
I've never read anything from this author before and I was so pleasantly pleased with the author's way of so beautifully telling a story. The words flowed together seamlessly making the chapters melt into the next. The characters were well drawn out and the storyline was easy to follow. I would absolutely read more of this authors work in the future!

This is one of the favorite WWII fiction pieces that I’ve read lately! The characters were marvelous, and the story lines of each wove themselves together so seamlessly. The only complaint I have is that I want more of these amazing women! Rose, Hazel, and Sophia all come from different walks of life, but their purposes intersect as they each take on heroic roles as part of the French Resistance. This book is a definite page turner. I couldn’t put it down.

“it was kill or be killed”
These three women are entirely fictitious, but so easily real. This novel takes you on a journey of three women, effectively feeling useless in the war, so they start doing something. Not a true story but based off of hundreds of true stories of women helping during the war, in often very dangerous situations.

I love the fact that she always writes about women and roles that you would otherwise not know about; however this one left me a little flat.
I felt that this spent a large amount of time in the back and forth of trying to hide, and then wrapped up too quickly in the how they finished their time before being liberated.
Well, that's why they make chocolate and vanilla, so that everyone may find a different story that touches them.

I am fascinated by the WWII era. I am always drawn to books with this period as the backdrop of the story. The atrocities that people can survive amaze me. Lane does a beautiful job of telling the story of 3 ambitious, strong & heroic women who risk their lives to fight with the Resistance against the Germans. While this is a fictional story you know from history that there are so many true stories just like these. And without the bravery of women like Rose, Hazel and Sophia the war would have had a very different ending. Looking forwars to more great books from Soraya.
