Okay, it’s getting better. Enjoyed this one much more and very much love Lia as a character. She’s smart and cunning and passionate and plans her steps carefully. Like the relationship with Rafe and enjoy the idea of them together in the future, they seem very well matched in general. Don’t like the other one. He’s an idiot and thinks he has some right to Lia and refuses to believe she’s doing anything but fighting for her life. Also not sure about Pauline, seems sweet but I don’t care about her. Like at all. I was skeptical about reading this one after the first book but now I’m okay with reading the full series. Here’s to hoping it keeps getting better.

A great follow-up to the first book, and getting more layered, which I love. The mythology that was dribble in at the beginning is now taking shape in interesting ways, connecting dots. I'm still not sure who to trust at times, and keep getting surprised. Am genuinely mad that the 3rd in the series isn't out for months (though I did pre-order it). Cannot wait to see what happens next.
Definitely recommend.

I am continually surprised at every turn at what this trilogy has to offer. I both gasped and cried whilst reading this book. That is saying something since I am a gargoyle made of pure stone and ire. LOL.

This book surpassed my expectations phenomenally. I can't even begin to express how happy I am that there was no "second book slump" at play here. In fact, I found the second installment much more fast paced and intriguing than the first!

Possibly a full review to come - once I gather my bearings and am a tad more awake, that is.
