Such a cute story about an adorable little girl. I wish I could have met Chika. ❤️ loved the audio book and getting to hear her sweet voice.

I loved seeing his insights into being a father and becoming a family. The book was inspiring and touching and reminded me to be grateful for everything I have.

This made me cry. Damn mitch you did it again. What a lovely memoir about loss, life, love and family.

I have very mixed emotions on this book. Mitch Albom is a very talented writer who can tell a compelling story and turn the people in his lives into characters we feel we feel a connection to from his descriptions. The style of writing (writing mostly to Chika) is interesting and I enjoyed that aspect.

In terms of the story told, I have mixed emotions. I am not a person of faith nor a person who has (or desires) children. I have adopted friends who advocate for what's right for adoptees, especially those of color and those with medical issues. I struggle with wondering if Mitch and Janine did the right thing and for the right reasons. I won't say more and will let future readers determine for themselves.

All I can think of while reading this is “Memento Mori” and asking what life of joy really is. Mitch Albom's second book managed to make my eyes almost got bleary.

Beautiful story of the love between a child and her parents (guardians) as they go through Chika’s illness and death.
