I picked this up for some low angst BDSM, and while I really liked all the pieces of this, the final execution didn't quite work. It's an early work of the author's -- maybe even her first? -- so that could be why, but the prose is a bit stilted, the dialog a big awkward and it's a bit inconsistent with the facts it's presenting.

One moment it's the first time he's ever experienced something, and the next he's been doing it for years. A few months of them officially being together turns into a few weeks. And some of the emotions seemed to bounce around inconsistently from scene to scene, too.

I also had a hard time following a good portion of the physical scene/sex descriptions, which is an extremely rare complaint for me. And since those scenes are a large part of the book, it was a little hard to connect with the characters. I kept reading, though, because the parts that worked were just enough to keep me interested.

The teaser chapter for the next one was enough to decide I'm calling this a day after book 1, though. I don't think I'd recommend it unless you've read all the other low-angst BDSM options...

For a book with an NSFW concept, this book is safe. Too safe. Nothing more, nothing less.

The plot development is dry and the character development isn't enough. I wish there was more of the characters' backstories though. The chemistry between the two is okay. Again, SAFE.

Unfortunately, there's nothing new here. I don't understand why most Dreamspinner books have almost the same plot structure/formula: 1 gay, 1 straight (very likely a divorcee), one or both characters is/are confused with his feelings, and then they end up together.

So, a non-spoiler spoiler alert: 85% of the book comprises of... you know what.

Good thing this is a trilogy. At least we know there's more plot that goes into this... or is there?

Another Way is the first male/male erotic romance that I have read. It does heavily feature BDSM. I read an article recently that said this type of novel was gaining in popularity especially among strait female readers. So since it is suppose to be a trend I had to give it a try, and I have to say I found this title highly interesting and entertaining. Now, will this type of book become my mainstay of reading, probably not, but it was great for a change of pace. It was really well written, you felt for the characters, and just wanted to know what would happen next. I found it hard to put down. So about the story. Jesse has been in a relationship with a woman for over 5 years, but in secret he has been seeing Will his Master for domination sessions when ever possible. Will has fallen in love with Jesse, but Jesse needs to decide if being Gay is truly who he is, or should things stay as they always have.

I'm not great with secret cheating.  This is a book for someone else to enjoy.

Cute. Really good at making the case for clear boundaries but kinda shit at having the characters establish them. Says that love doesn't conquer all but tries to show that it does, clumsily masked as "compromise." Mixed messages much?
