this was such an informative and essential read. the section on the god of virginity and the active police brutality that assaults women daily was done extremely well. my only issue would be the consistent repetition of some of the arguments, it becomes a little redundant. overall though, a great read that people need in order to see the abuse that happens to many women in the middle east.

This book was very important for me as an arab woman. It's brave, radical, and Mona is unapologetic in exposing the truth of misogyny in Arab culture and demanding rights for the region's women. She talks about sex, virginity, marriage, religion, violence, and women's rightful place in the revolution. Mona is excellent in articulating what I wish I had the words to express.
