Good on Seven Seas for not censoring this manga. It definitely won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I enjoyed it.

I went into this book because I love Hideaki Anno’s adaptation. Unfortunately, the first Cutie Honey is Go Nagai at his perviest. I’m fine with the idea that she’s naked in the middle of her transformation but it gets A LOT worse than that.

This collection has pretty much everything that a serial comic/manga could have to appeal to young adults of the 20th and 21rst centuries: action, comedy, girl power, cats, fashion, androids, more cats, as much tasteful and humorous nudity a teenager would want, and of course more cats.

While some might find this collection to be 'below their reading level' in terms of the previously mentioned, give it a chance. I would normally give this series a single read, but due to the way Nagai goes with the plot, and of course the dated look of the illustrations, I would read it all over again.

Not my vibe at all, too rapey, too much molestation

Wellllllll, I can see why it’s a cult classic: the art and character design is actually pretty genius but the premise and (extremely thin) narrative is straight up polarizing. Glad I read it, though.

This is one of those things you read for experiencing some historical classics, but it reeaaaaally has not aged well.

Did not finish...

Look... I should have known better... but I saw the title and the cover, I read the back cover and thought, "hell yea, vintage robot magical girl sort of thing". Dear reader, I was wrong, it's by the creator of Devil Man... which should have been a clue. However I was naive and thought, "oh well maybe it's forgettable and weird and cutesy that's why we don't talk about it like their other work. Nope, it's just... it's A LOT, maybe it's for some people, but for me this was not it. It's far more graphic than I could handle (at least sexually), and I only made it 2 chapters in.

Oh well.
