This had an interesting concept, but the characters felt bland.

Though the story itself would be the only thing that really prompts me to read the next volume, I have no plans to pick it up anytime soon.

Fumi Nishioka has not had the easiest life.

Abandoned at a young age and unable to remember much of her childhood, she’s had to live most of her life feeling like a bother. The only bright spot in her life has been Kyutaro Horikita and his family—who took her in as a live-in maid. She’s been raised as their own, though.

Kyutaro’s family specializes in a kind of magic. Known as “Sweepers”, they are responsible for cleaning the minds of those afflicted by negative energy. It’s a noble profession and one with great responsibility. Fumi has bern acting as an apprentice to the craft, partnering with Kyutaro.

Fumi has always had special abilities. It’s not till she’s targeted that those mysterious abilities become cause for concern.

Fumi is powerful.

Within her, there is a Queen.

But, these powers are dangerous. She can’t control them which makes her susceptible to outside influences—those who would like to unleash her power to its most destructive impulses.

Kyutaro vows to stay by her side and help bring her back to herself when she loses control. He will be her consort—even if it hurts him to be so near someone who doesn’t return his love. He will protect her always.

But, what Fumi’s feelings? Is Kyutaro’s love really unrequited?

This is SO CUTE!

And, so fun!

I really enjoyed reading this first volume! There is so much happening up front—we’ve got a great core set of characters, a distinctive conflict, and some delightful magic going on. It’s a really compelling and visually appealing story right from the start.

What I appreciate most so far is the mystery. The magic is familiar but being applied uniquely—which leaves me wondering what will happen next, especially as Fumi and her powers grow.

Definitely recommend! This author writes such interesting and engaging stories. They have such a distinctive sense of humor and playfulness in their stories that really comes through and makes for an enjoyable ride~

This manga didn't really pick up until the very end. Slow builds are not for me, I tend to loose interest. The premise and that fact that it's shojo (I need more shojo & josei in my life) are the only things that has kept me reading. I'm going to continue to see what happens in the next volume. I hope volume 2 tells more of the story since this volume is more about explaining the situation.

Went in a darker direction by the end, but really good overall. So glad to be back in this series! (Now I wanna reread the original triology haha)

An intriguing start to a series--I'm interested in seeing what will happen in future volumes with further character development especially.
