this had me hooked from the start. hendrix gets into a rocky situation and is sent to spend the summer with his moms best friend, grant, in a small town. hendrix had a crush on grant when he was growing up and thought he grew out of those feelings. well, he didn’t and there’s a lot of pining from him. jealously from both

If I could use only one word to describe this book, I’d use melancholy. I was filled with overwhelming sadness for most of this but also hopeful. Grant and Hendrix both felt unwanted and invisible. They felt alone. And in many ways they were.

Their situation was incredibly difficult and yet, they found themselves reaching for the other in spite of what seemed insurmountable odds. They craved touch. They needed love. They could be the light in the others darkness. They didn’t have to be alone anymore. They finally found their home & it was beautiful.

This was definitely a slow burn. And I thought it led into their relationship nicely. However, I really really wanted more backstory on Grant. He clearly had a difficult childhood and there was constant reference to him being “dumb” and “not smart” but he seemed like an intelligent man. He was kind and hardworking, if not closed off. But again - WHY??

The relationship between Cynthia and Hendrix was odd and disappointing. We also get no insight into what made Hendrix so challenging. Yes, he had that car accident but we get no details about any other wrong doing.

I kind of felt like we were dropped into this story with so many details off page. That’s not to say I didn’t like the book, I very much did. I just wanted more. I wanted to know Grant and Hendrix more.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you so much Bailey!

Each Bailey Nicole novel gets better and better. When I heard that THE WEIGHT OF YOUR WISHES was a best friend’s son mm romance?! I could just DIE. I love anything that ~pushes the envelope~

I’m really happy with the fact that there is actually some light daddy kink. Like finally! I feel like most of the books I read stray away from it or use it as a joke. I love it though.

I also enjoyed the slow burn aspect. I thought it was gorgeously done… until it wasn’t. I think the book should’ve been longer because once things start to go down between Hendrix and Grant, the reader is already through the majority of the book and then it just feels like a crash course to the ending. And because of how fast it was, the stakes were never that high. That contradicts how long it took them to get together because regarding that, the stakes should’ve been extremely high. I think that was definitely a miss.

Regardless, I still had such a blast reading THE WEIGHT OF YOUR WISHES and I love seeing Bailey grow and evolve.

✨”I’m having a hard time letting go of this feeling—this feeling that makes me lose all semblance of sanity. You make me want to say fuck everything, so long as I can have this—have you.”✨

THE WEIGHT OF YOUR WISHES
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
REVIEW: Another great MM read by Bailey Nicole. I was so excited for this because I have a major soft spot for age gap, make it MM & I’m ready to rideee!!! This was definitely a character driven story & as Bailey has proven in the past, as long as the characters are enticing enough you don’t need an over complicated plot to want to keep reading. Most character driven stories tend to have an abundance of smut & more often than not border on being considered erotica. I think Bailey did an excellent job of balancing this. The smut was there (& hot af, like I’m still thinking about Hendrix’s thong & Grant growling “baby boy”) but it wasn’t constantly shoved in your face in place of actually building the relationship. Grant & Hendrix made my whole body warm, like a drink of tea in the dead of winter. They were cozy & soft & I loved both so much. I definitely wished this was longer as I feel like we didn’t get to become lost in everything that is Grant & Hendrix’s love story. I actually wished we had more flashbacks to really establish the relationship between these two as pseudo uncle & nephew before their relationship changed into more. If you’re looking for a heartfelt MM, mother’s best friend, love story definitely snatch this one up. Preferably with a beer & summer storm ⛈

This was barely a forbidden romance and it was so short it kinda felt incomplete??

This was a bit different than Bailey's other books - but just as amazing. They brought a different type of relationship to the table. One that is formed out of a life long love. That love is different between Hendrix and Grant though. We get to see the realizations, the growth, the passion.
Grant wants to be someone that Hendrix can look up to but he views himself as less than. He doesn't realize how much he gives to Hendrix simply by existing.
Hendrix wants nothing more than to be seen. His mother doesn't see him, only Grant - just not in the way he wants.
Yet both of them fight this tug of war.
It's emotional, it's heartfelt, it's sexy as all.
Bailey was able to bring this amazing story that you just devour. While also showing that you don't have to fear the unknown and that love will prevail.
