This book is technically appallingly written. Its pacing is shit, the writing is clunky, the point is non existent.

However,

This is also one of my favourite books.

hate this book. But I also absolutely fucking love this book.

In a technical sense it’s complete garbage, but, it’s so absolutely feral and hilarious that it’s fun. The chaos is absolutely insane and I love it.

Also the main characters are awful misogynistic “pick me” girls. They made me so fucking mad istg. So major warning for that shit. Like I think it’s intentional? But this book is again, awfully technically written. Intentionally, but it’s so bad😭😭

It’s awful, it’s amazing, it’s crazy, it’s feral, it’s an absolutely wild experience. Hating and loving a book at once is weird as fuck so I hope my explanation makes some sense😭😭😭😭

9.7/10, y’all gay as fuck.

A solid 3. Recommended to me by my dad. I usually really like his taste but this book was too over the top in too many directions. It makes me think that he hasn't read very many modern books that inhabit the space in the venn diagram of girlhood and horror. It was just a pretty amateur writing style. Concept was interesting but overall, juvenile. I would have devoured and been obsessed with this book as a teen.

Initially I found the abstract concept of art in the book to be confusing but the more I think about it the more I enjoyed it. It was an interesting and complex book about the ethics of art and creation, loneliness and the friendship.

It’s weird as hell, but I loved it. The only book I’ve ever read that actually lives up to being called “a fever dream”.

The last third of the book escalates really quickly and doesn’t explain itself very well, so it adds to the feeling of confusion and suspense, but it also means I didn’t get every plot point.

Should’ve been gayer, though.
