I can't put my finger on it, but I didn't really enjoy this one. It had a few nice scenes but overall I just found it not bad but not outstanding either.

I keep waiting for something crazy to happen in this series and it just...never...does. It feels very long and drawn out with little action or plot. Which makes me very sad indeed because I'm slowly falling out of love with this series that I was so incredibly head over heels for in the beginning. I'll just re-read the first series over and over again *sighs*
So, I still love the world of the Clans and the characters. I've enjoyed getting to know the new characters - loyal Hollypaw, steadfast Jaypaw, brave Lionpaw. Although the latter irritated the shit out of me in this book.
What's the point of being so powerful if no cat ever knows?
Lionpaw definitely let the prophecy get to his head. The bragging and arrogance and constantly thinking himself above the whole rest of the Clan drove me bat shit! He was SO smug about everything that it grated on my last nerve and made me kind of not like him. Hollypaw and Jaypaw have really grown on me, though! I love how honorable Hollypaw is, and Jaypaw has come such a long way since the brooding kit he was at the beginning of the series.
Even though it's been super slow, I'm still interested to see where the prophecy is heading and what's going to happen.
While I'm in a spoiler tag, SQUIRRELFLIGHT. Holy crap I thought we were going to lose her! Honestly, in the old series we probably would have. I feel like a totally different person wrote the newer series than the first book (which may be possible because from my understanding it's a group of people writing under the pseudonym Erin Hunter??), because that brutality and emotion is just not there. I got a bit misty when I thought she was going to die but other than that I didn't really forge much of an emotional connection.

I kind of feel like one of the three is going to die - the paperback cover of Sunset, the last book, with the glowing light in the background paired with StarClan talking about them not being ready and how much the prophecy is going to demand of them makes me very worried that we're going to lose one and my bet is on Hollypaw...While I'm in a spoiler tag, SQUIRRELFLIGHT. Can the main characters get any more annoying??? Idk are we supposed to hate them?? This is the best book of this power of three era tho till now
