A timely attempt to re-construct Illustration as a fine art disciplines. For hundred and hundred of years illustration seems a second class art disciplines hiding behind painting or sculpture or other "Fine Arts". There is a huge philosophical shift towards the status of illustration in the 21st century. But the first thing to do to canonize a discipline is to construct it's history. I enjoy this book as I see no bias towards any special cultures or regions of illustrative history. From Egypt to Japan, from USA to France, from Australia to Argentina, this is a thorough attempt to survey our illustration history of the entire evolutionary civilization.
