Quick read took me less than an hour, but I’d like to give this even less than 1 star. Not my style, personally. I picked it up as a short read in the pride section at the library, but it was so hard to follow. I’ve been reading more graphic novels recently, but this read more as a comic than a graphic novel, and I think that may be a reason it didn’t resonate with me due to my genre preferences. I honestly don’t even know if I can summarize what happened because I was so confused.

There you go, a drink that's almost as strong as you are.

Well, this was weird.

On the surface, this comic looked like something I was bound to enjoy: magic, coffee, friendship, queer monster community, what's not to love? And the first few pages did look promising. Except very soon, I started getting kind of overwhelmed. There are lots of characters, especially when you add in the advice columns and those interludes that are (I think???) just excerpts from in-universe books the characters like. Everything is happening at once and no one really gets any focused screen time. Not even the leads most of the time, because there's always something else going on in the background, more banter happening, more characters popping up.

Combine all that with the art style that didn't really work for me (objectively, it's GOOD! subjectively, there's something about the colors and the shapes here that makes it hard for my brain to grok them), and, alas, I can't say I enjoyed the ride. I did enjoy its potential, and there were a few spots that did make me smile.

Loved the colour scheme, the artwork, most of the characters and the overall cuteness of this volume. I switched form 4 * to 3 * but I think the 3* fits my own enjoyment of my reading experience. I didn’t love the magazine extracts dotted through as it really took you out of the story and the art was so different it felt a bit garish!
Some of the action was rushed and I think some parts could have benefitted hugely from being just a tad longer to get to know the characters more and understand the plot. Overall though I did enjoy it!

So cute. Everything I could ask for in any book: magical creatures, romance, diversity, ass-kicking...

Fuck this was cute.

Like, for real. [b: Moonstruck|35758543|Moonstruck, Vol. 1 Magic to Brew (Moonstruck #1)|Grace Ellis|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1519888647s/35758543.jpg|57259568] was some of the cutest shit I've read to date. Adorable (and well-rounded) characters, a serious but heartwarming plot, lots of diversity and that art.

The art of [a: Shae Beagle] might be one of my favorites to date. It was just so fluffy. And it really did fit the story of all these magical creatures lives perfectly.

This graphic novel might not have rocked my world, but it was exactly what I needed right now. I will definitely be recommend this for everyone looking for some cute LGBTQIA+ romance, gorgeous artwork or just a heartwarming story.

Werewolves, sweet cute romance, a hilarious centaur friend, magicians, drama, and more! This book will pull you in and not spit you out until the end.

So I have been meaning to read this book for ages, the cover was what pulled me in. These girls looked adorable and cute together and I wanted to see them get together/go on dates/etc.

But this book is so much more than just cute dates and cute romance. There is some drama and tension when an evil magician steals Chet's magic (aka his centaurness) and he returns to a normal human. It is up to our characters to get the magic back, unmask the fiend that did it, and fix the problems. But between that we also see two girls getting closer together, and Chet going from worrying and feeling depressed to also wondering if the hot Minotaur guy still would like him.

While I did love Julie, I did think, and sorry if this is rude, that she was a bit too oversensitive. The littlest mention of something dog-related and she raised her shackles or acted like the world was ending. I am sorry, maybe if we had a bit more of a backstory on why she is acting like this, I may have understood it a bit more, but now I just found it a bit silly. OMG someone calls me a puppy, oh no, I must immediately humpfh and leave this building. Girrrrllll....
But I did love her, and I could understand that it wasn't always easy for her to be a werewolf. Especially when one just changes without warning when emotions rise. So I was delighted that she had found a fellow werewolf girl who loves/likes her and was there for her when she needed a cuddle or a hug.
I did also like that she was a barista (albeit a bit clumsy).

Pluspoints go to Cass for being totally epic and fun. I loved her going in prophecy/vision mode and it was always interesting to hear her prophecies.

I also love the rest of the cast (well the good guys at least), they are so diverse and fun.

Oh and it was quite interesting that this isn't a world with just supernatural creatures, but that there are also humans. I would like to see more of how this world works. Are there more humans? How is the relationship between supernatural and humans?

The reason why I am not rating this book a full 5 stars, or even more is due to two points that I didn't like. One the magician and how that was handled. There was such a build-up, so much planning, so much research, and some smaller battles, but then it ends in a very anti-climax and easy/lazy way. Not a bang, but more like a fizz and problem solved.
Then there were those Pleasant Mountain Sisters that were just so boring that I eventually was dreading it when they came around. It definitely didn't help that the style didn't fit the main comic at all.

The art (well the main comic one) is soft, adorable, and pretty. I just adore the way the artist drew the characters.

I hope that there are going to be more volumes in this series, I need to see more Julie and Selena, and of course the ever fun Chet. :)

I found this while browsing my library this past weekend and it looked too cute not to read. We follow two werewolves and a centaur as they're living life in this magical world and working at this coffee shop. But when they go to a magic show one night things take a dark turn and they're left trying to recover, find out who stole the centaur's magic (and their horse butt), and get everything back to normal.

This is a cute cozy Fantasy comic series and do I now have volumes 2 and 3 as library holds just waiting for me to swing by? Of course I do Hi, have you met me? I'm excited to keep going with this one because it IS so adorable and so magical. My struggle--and the reason this didn't get a higher rating from me--is that we spend so long meeting everyone and getting our way of the magical land that we don't have enough time on the action. We get a few pages per chapter but, as a whole, this volume isn't very action heavy. The fight sequences are quick (maybe a couple of pages at the most) and then we're moving on to the next thing. I'm hoping we get more action in the next couple of volumes.

Favorite Characters? I sort of love Cass who is a seer at another coffee shop who helps them on their mission. Julie is alright but probably not a favorite despite her being our main character. The centaur Chet was hilarious but I think 70% of that was just the fact he kept running around talking about missing his horse butt and 30% being his insane energy.

Overall, it's cute and quick and I think it's great for anyone wanting to jump into something with cozy vibes. With all the magical creatures, it also kind of gives off those Autumn vibes for anyone who--like me--is currently suffering through more heat waves than you can shake a stick at.
