J.K. brought to life a world for so many since this first book came out. I watched the movies as they came out, but never got around to reading these books, until now. To top it off, when I can’t read it, I am listening to it by the amazing Jim Dale. Harry has a rough start to life, and it doesn’t get better in his first 10 years. He lives under some stairs, like a servant. Which is how he’s treated, too. Finally, Hagrid comes knocking, and he puts those terrible Dudley’s in their places. (Yay!) He’s whisked away to buy stuff for a wizardry school he’s never heard of, but knows he can’t wait to get there. Then, J.K. takes her story and makes it better. Hogwarts seemed to be a place she’d been to and even attended those classes of Transfiguration, Flying Lessons, and Care of Magical Creatures. I can almost believe she cheered for House Gryffindor in a Quiddich match. I know I am late to the school for joining, but these stories are an amazing feat. And, with my daughter being young, I can’t wait for her to read them too. I felt sad, angry, laughed, and was excited. For an author being able to make you feel things while you’re reading shows they’re a great author.
