I really appreciated how this placed friendships as equal to romantic relationships, and that they may have similar patterns. It really helped me to recognize a tumultuous friendship that I have and how maybe I do need to treat it like a romantic relationship to be able to see where it’s going.

I think this book favours those who have listened to the podcast. In a space where not many books are written about friendships, it is a welcome addition especially the chapters/places they discuss what psychologists/sociologists have done work on.

I thought I wouldn’t like this book because I hate when a book gets marketed as one thing and then it’s entirely different. I hadn’t listened to the call your girlfriend podcast before reading this, so I was worried I wouldn’t be that invested in the story. But I found it really nice to read a whole book about the friendship of 2 real women!! just them hanging out and being honest about how close they were to losing their friendship but going to couples therapy (whoa emotionally focused therapy seems cool) together to make it work!
lots of little examples of how you can stay close with friends who are not physically with you, and reframing advice about romantic relationships to apply to friendships
