•This book was wild from the first page, no messing about.
•I enjoyed the perspective swap between Sloan, Asa & Carter.
•The story felt so quick & left me with many questions.
•I can only imagine living in those circumstances; events simply occur without rhyme or reason at crazy pace. It’s taxing physically, mentally and beyond emotionally.
•I blazed through the story, truly wanting to know if Sloan would be okay.
•I carried a heavy heart for a lot of this quick story.
•Realising that this can be a current chapter in someone’s real life on this planet made me feel many things.
•Getting into the mind of Asa was absolutely necessary for this story.
•I loved the insight into Stephen.

Maybe this could be a good story if you scrapped everything and just kept the very very basic concept.

But it was badly written and Al of the characters were terrible people.

I honestly didn't know what to rate this one. I can't even tell if I liked it or not. I can say for sure--100% certainty--without a doubt--I will never reread this book. It was so much. So much. It was dark and insane. I blew through it in 3 days, and I'm a slow reader so I felt that qualified it for more than just 3 stars. It kept my attention. I was turning those pages wanting to know what happens next. Wanting to know how the hell they were gonna get out of this mess. The twisted thing is, we get the antagonist's POV too and it was WILD. He's legitimately a criminal genius, but he uses it to obsess over a woman. Like, I get it. Based on his past, it makes perfect sense for his character, but I kept sitting there in awe of his forethought and attention to detail. It was unbelievably uncomfortable to get his POV a lot of the time, but some of it was genuinely what made the book so much better.
The relationship between Sloan and Carter was so sweet. I loved them. Asa was a train wreck who I was hoping would die from the beginning and by the end I was like, seriously guys, the only way you're getting out of this is if he's 6 feet under ground because he's an actual genius and obsessed with this woman.
It was also really fascinating because Sloan is trapped in this life with Asa, but she's so smart. She keeps her cool, she tells him convincingly what he wants to hear to keep herself safe. I respect what she does for her brother. It genuinely felt like she was trapped with no way out, and she was handling it like a pro, the only way she could.
It's terrifying to know how truly grounded in reality this is, though. People like Asa exist in the world. People worse than him exist. It made me quite a bit more tense reading.

I feel like it just fell short in spots she could have elaborated on
