The only thing keeping it from five stars is the fact it had about three different endings. Despite being a burner story it was written well and had me hooked and on the edge of my seat.

This honestly.. sucked. It sucked. It was incredibly fast paced, everything happened over the span of What felt like a week. The main character is supposed to be this strong woman who’s dealing but you can’t help but think like just leave.. then captain save a ho comes in. Yaddah yaddah. It felt like everything that could have happened did. I actually told my friend while I was reading this it felt like I was reading a mafia bf fanfic and it turns out it was just that- started on wattpad. Turns out to be kind of “big” twist at the end but all in all it wasn’t impressive. It was an interesting enough concept and an easy ready, but all in all was not good.

relationship between main couple is toxic, Asa and Sloan- she only stays to get financial support for her brother. her boyfriend is a drug dealer but does love her, but has a weird way of showing it. undercover cop Carter/Luke, falls in love with main character girl-sloan. They eventually get together, but have to fight off Asa and have a few defeats against Asa.

i felt interested in this story, i don't expect to re-read this or recommend to anyone. so much content warning, some of it unwarranted. sloan was a character i loved

i hated asa with my entire being (which i guess was the point)

. the story wasn't super predictable which i liked. the ending gave me all the answers i was looking for and it didn't make me cry. over all, my least fav hoover book. possibly my least fav book of the year so far.
