I enjoyed this book so much! It is so touching and deals with grief and friendships and mental illness in such amazing ways. I loved the character growth and how we get to know everyone piece by piece through chapters told in the past and in the present.
I did think it was a struggle to like the characters, but I think that's because they represent parts of myself that I don't like or don't want to deal with. It's a hard read because it is so emotional, but so worth it.

So I really liked this one. I thought the switch between first person and second person was so smooth and well placed. I had to keep reading, it was so good and interesting and hard to put down. There was nothing I disliked about it, in the slightest. But I felt like I was supposed to be emotional yet it just didnt pull any punches for me.

Note 1-Wade is gay, what the heck? I did not see that coming, let alone their relationship! What???

Note 2-When Jackson and Griifin did what they did? I was kinda a little for it. They had more chemistry at any rate then he does with Wade.

Note 3 - Running off to California? Goals!

Note 4 - Because our shared OCD truly does suck, Theo was really shit to you after yous broke up. Just thought I'd say.

I've just put this book down and my eyes are swollen because I've cried so many times reading it. It was so heartbreaking and so beautiful and I'm so glad that I read it.

Griffin was my favourite. My heart just ached and ached and ached for him, his poor little soul. I just wanted to hug him continously. I think the way Adam wrote him was just fantastic. The way he wrote his grief and his OCD were just so brilliant and believable and he was a character I felt for so much. Also his favourite Harry Potter character is Cedric and SAME.

Jackson was a character I struggled with especially in the start of the story because I was so team Griffin. But, as the story went on my heart just broke for him because he really was in love with Theo and he was in so much pain and my heart hurt. He was such a sweet boy and tried so hard to help Griffin even though he was dealing with his own grief too.

Now Theo again is a character I struggled with. Obviously I felt bad for him and I did love him but I thought the way he treated Griffin in some parts just made me a little angry. I know that Griffin broke up with him but they're meant to be best friends and at some point I thought he was a little mean to him. But I thought he was a great character and his sarcasm and humour were things I loved the most about him. Even though he was obviously the character that had passed away, I still felt has presence when reading the book.

Wade is so underappeciated okay. He was a fantastic character and the way he was treated in some parts by Griffin and Theo wasn't very nice. I know how it feels to be completely left out of a trio of friends and it's absolutely awful so I really felt for him. It was obvious how much he missed Theo and how he wasn't coping with it either and my heart just hurt. But he really came into his character throughout the story and I loved him.

Overall, this book was fantastic. It was so heartbreaking and beautiful and I cried a total of eight times through the book. I'm so happy that I finally read this book. The way this book dealt with grief was very real and raw and sparked so many emotions. These people are just kids and the way this book was written was just so heartbreaking. I would 10/10 recommend this book to anyone and I can't wait to read Adam's other works.

This is my second favorite Adam Silvera book right after They Both Die At The End. It is so well written and deep. I felt fully connected to the characters and cried when I finished. There are even some shocking parts that will take you by surprise. Definitely recommend, especially to anyone who enjoys gay romance.

SPOILER: I am upset with the ending partially. I enjoyed both Wade and Jackson and I wish they could both somehow end up with Griffin. Maybe even nobody ending up together at all. The ending still made me cry and was amazing i just felt really bad for Jackson. Still a great read.

"History remains with the people who will appreciate it most."

Wow. Young love, heartache, grieve. This book brought out these emotions in such a beautiful way. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I cried through it. I cried for Griffin, but also for a piece of myself I recognised within him. This is not just a story about a boy that lost his first love. It's about growing and learning to let go. I wish I had read this when I was 17, but at 24 I am still grateful. This book will forever have its place on my bookshelf.
