Sports romance, you have never failed me!
I have seen so much about this book, a pole dancing FL who is the daughter of the coach and a ML quarterback who can't take his eyes off her? Yes please! Kandi Steiner has written a steamy and surprisingly sweet romance with SO MUCH SPICE, and characters who have really gone through the grief wringer. Holden is the star quarterback, and the new football coach and him don't exactly see eye to eye. The coach's sports medicine daughter has been declared strictly off limits, but that doesn't stop him from looking. Did I mention they end up living across from each other? And in her living room she has installed a pole and NO CURTAINS!! (You can bet he watches!) An almost career ending injury sees the two paired together for physical therapy, and forbidden romance soon blossoms. I loved the dual POV, it was great to see Holden pining for Julep, and see how much he already cared about her.
Favorite Moments: the pool, Julep giving him a show, Holden's Uncles
Hail Mary is still my favorite in the series, but this was well enjoyed too!

Julep and Holden were ADORABLE. I loved everything about this book. The way all hard topics were depicted, their relationship and chemistry, the banter, the forbidden aspect, and the quick pacing throughout it all.

Holden was a sweetheart. He tried to ignore and put his feelings down, but when he finally accepted them for what they were and went after what he wanted it was ah-mazing. I loved how he cared so much for Julep. How he never forced her to do anything and went at her pace. How he reminded her how much she was loved, and how he helped her realize she was not at fault for what happened to her sister. He was adorable, and sweet, and had me blushing the whole time.

Gosh, Julep broke my heart. She carried so much guilt and hurt and reading it was just heartbreaking. Seeing the way she coped and the reasoning her father was so hard on her was just a cherry on top. I am so glad that she found the love she deserved and that she got the happy ending she never imagined getting. She carried herself so well and I just wish I could’ve given her a hug throughout the whole book.

Overall, I loved this book. It had everything in it and it just made me giddy. I will admit that Juleps father PISSED ME OFF to absolutely no end. But whatever, I’ll just imagine slapping him across the face. Anyways, read this book. It was amazing.

I have a few thoughts and opinions (mostly opinions though):
  • I don't like American football. I don't know when it happened but i decided that most sports romances are redundant for me. I don't understand much, skip the action stuff and couldn't care less when a career is on the line.
  • Public proposals are the worst possible option. And in a romance with new adults (who just stopped being technical teenagers and are not even full adults yet)? No.
  • Ok. I understand why the author chose to make this book new adult. But. With a few little changes this could've been a good adult romance. Like. It just felt like all the college characters were playing grown up.
  • I wanted to read about pain. What i got instead was 50% ridiculousness and the rest was a mix of sad, weird and redundant. But there was romantic stuff too i guess. Not as much as i expected
  • I'm petitioning for both of the characters to go to therapy.

Overall this book was different from what I expected but not necessarily in a bad way. This could possibly be the favorite book of someone and I could understand why. But it is not for me.
