This was absolutely phenomenal. Why oh why did I wait so long. While this is mainly “human interest” telling the stories of the men who visited the moon, it is woven with politics, science, and history to tell an overarching story of the Apollo missions.

The ultimate telling of the voyages of the Apollo astronauts to the moon, and what it took to get them there. Arguably one of the greatest accomplishments humankind has achieved, the narrative is exceptionally well-written, telling the story with great pacing and excellent balance between the human emotion and impact against the data and scientific and technical information.
It's thrilling, impactful, inspiring, emotional, astounding, monumental and always engaging. I wish I could read it again for the first time!

Simply put, this is still the best book written about the Apollo program.

I have listened to the transcripts of the missions and have read many books on the subject. This book is a good addition to the body of work.
