This is a collection of studies on the soul and being, multi-dimensionality and metaphysics, mobility and existence, permanence and detachment, human design and the language of God. If you think that's a mouthful, that's not even skimming the surface. It's intense, confusing and poetically insightful.
I think Olga Tokarczuk puts a lot of faith in the reader to get through this mental obstacle course. All to get to a place of saying, don't take this too seriously. If that's your thing, and you want something to read at the airport that acknowledges you're reading at the airport, you'll love this book.

I mean…. Here’s the thing. I think it’s a really good book. It is definitely not for me.
I found huge pockets of this book to be unfathomably boring, and then suddenly hugely interesting. I think a lot of the writing is sort of inaccessible and a little dense. Then it is captivating and very moving.
I was greatly intrigued by the themes of connection discovered through exploring these vastly different stories with seemingly uncommon circumstances, and then learning about their commonalities. I was also intrigued by the motif of “kairos”, and fleeting movement. Those themes really worked for me.
I thought the ending would deliver something more powerful, butif time isn’t linear, then maybe that wasn’t the ending. Ooooooo…..
Idk. Kind of boring overall.

Not an easy read for people who prefer strong plots or characters. This book contains a number of unconnected anecdotes, stories and musings on life.
