So I was very slowly moving through this book. I would pick it up, read a chapter, get bored, set it down, pick it up a few hours, arrive at boredom again. Seriously it was a vicious cycle...
And then one night I got a little drunk and decided to read it and lo and behold... I found this book quite hilarious! All the stupid crap that came out of Abby's mouth was so ridiculous that I couldn't stop myself from snickering at it.
I still hate Abby with a burning passion but this is a good "Read while you're drunk" book.

Christopher Moore is a very readable author that is consistently "good". I haven't met a Moore book I've truly loved yet (Serpent of Venice is closest) and Bite Me certainly isn't the first. It's simple, quickly paced, humorous, sexy, and creative enough to keep you interested. Moore likes wacky situations and characters more than strong narrative, and that leaves his endings always feeling lightweight and anticlimactic.

- a lot of racism
- the r slur
- Making EXTREMELY TOO MUCH LIGHT OF ABBY BEING UNDERAGE
- yet still some of the best homeless-sympathetic representation - like the fact that people are noticing that homeless people go missing is extremely atypical of every single genre where death happens. And it's accurate to reality.
Overall complicated feelings! There definitely was some funny stuff like with the tail and the lice and Chet and turkey bowling and stuff but yeah

Review: I listened to this book on audiobook and laughed out loud (or LOL as Abby would put it) so many times that I think my co-workers thought I lost my mind. The story itself is really well paced, has the right amount of sardonic humor, and the characters are very true to themselves. It is a love story at heart but there is so much going on that you sometimes forget that. I know that a book about vampires and evil vampire cat's named Chet does not seem like it would be a good read but trust me when I say you won't be disappointed. My only problem, and this just might be with the audio version, is the number of different main POV's. It was a little hard to follow at times but it was easy to catch up. I loved the ending, I thought it was perfect for this book.
WARNING: If you have a problem with foul language or acronym language (LOL, OMFG, OMG, etc) this is not the book for you :)
