This plot is familiar, detective is asked to investigate disappearing jewellery; while attending a dinner with the prime suspects.

I guessed a lot of what was going on but the ride was enjoyable.

I liked this 2nd book of the series much better than the first. I came into the Amory Ames Mystery series at book seven & have started at the beginning to try and understand the characters. Amory might solve murders but she's a strange duck. She constantly worries about her marriage & rogue of a husband. Milo isn't a typical husband by any means and he takes off without notice. Once he spent months on the French Rivera and came home like nothing happened. He's the one I'm most interested in. He's a real piece of work. The mysteries are good but the characters keep me coming back.
