Thank you for the opportunity to review this new novel.

It's a cozy mystery in the best way. Retired busybody Jane gets hired by a manager for a retirement village to try to sort out difficulties among the residents. She moves in, disguised as a potential buyer, and on her second day a person gets murdered. From there on she's very busy indeed.

I liked that Jane wasn't perfect and she had relationships that were broken, like the one to her son.
Also, I enjoyed the whole story. You know what you get when you buy a cozy mystery, great entertainment and a good time.

This book was surprisingly entertaining. It helped that the premise gave the main character a solid reason to go around poking her nose into other people's affairs (pun intended). I also enjoyed the opportunity to discover everything as the heroine discovered it, since she also was new to the setting and the people.

A very promising beginning to a series.

Jane is not your usual cozy mystery heroine and that's what I like about her. Her age and life experiences serve her well when she helps friends and others sort out tricky problems. Her first paying job might be her last if she gets to close to the truth that someone is taking great pains to keep hidden. Who knew that a 55+ adult community would have as much drama as it did ... it was worse than the cliques back in high school and Jane is not shy at sorting things out and getting to the root of the problem but when a murderer struck, she was determined to keep ferreting out information to pass along to the police. This is one thing I really liked about her, she shared her information with them instead of holding out and risking her own safety because of her determination to be THE one to solve the crime. Am looking forward to reading more in this series.

I borrowed this book from the library. It is a fun light read about a retired businesswoman who gets things done. She is a person who tells it like it is and through word of mouth gets hired to help fix a problem at a senior living community. It's a mystery to her why she's there, but she figures out part of the problem, but new ones pop up...even a murder!

I liked the characters, the description of the facility and how her "business" as a professional busybody starts. I will be reading this series.

The first in a new series by an author I just started reading, Barbara Ross. I wanted to like this one more than I actually did. It had a couple of relationship descriptions that I did not enjoy, though for most people, this would not be an issue. I did enjoy the characters and setting (a retirement community and Jane, retired mother turned busybody, trying to help others out with various problems). I won the second book in this series from a giveaway, and so I wanted to read the first one to understand the characters and setup.
