The stories he shares about his mother (leaving them out in the snow because 3 snow days stuck at home was too much) made me laugh but also… His siblings’ relationship with their sister Tiffany is seen in a different light after learning what happened to her later in life.

The comment at book club was if this was like your life then it wasn't funny and I guess I agree. I tried reading Me Talk Pretty and had a similar feeling that I just don't find it humorous, but rather painful or embarrassing to recall. But that's what makes for a great book club, reading books you normally wouldn't.

Hilarious and nostalgic. I loved his family's fascination with owning a beach house.

I love listening to David Sedaris' books. This one is a combination of dark family memories, and hilarious observations. My hands down favorite is "Six to Eight Black Men" about how Christmas is celebrated in the Netherlands.
