I can’t give this stars yet because I’m still processing. This book was all of my fears regarding marriage and motherhood played out. It carved my heart out of my chest and hit it with an SUV. The book was cathartic as well, there was something comforting about reading the worst scenarios I can imagine. Anyway, I can’t say I liked it but The Push will stay with me for a long time and if that isn’t the mark of a good book I’m not sure what is.

a chilling novel about a mother who suspects her firstborn is a sociopath who
killed her second child
, and the effects this has on their family as she is not believed. there is a lot of domestic drama and generational trauma. I wish it went a bit harder with what it wants to say, but the writing is good and it doesn’t read like a debut. I love short, vignette-like chapters.

Another audiobook that I signed up for without truly knowing what it was about, but dang it really sucked me in. Has you questioning how you feel about certain characters the whole time. And that ending?? What a cliffhanger. I was finishing washing dishes and it ended like that?? Had to sit down for a moment.

I’m kinda over killer kids tbh, it’s just a little boring. It’s the same formula— kid hates mom, kid grows more violent but only mom notices, dad refuses to believe mom, mom ends up being right. But this was a fun little read to get me out of the rut I’ve been in. It was also refreshing to not hate the other woman. I did really appreciate that!

At the end when Fox tells Blythe that he covered for Violet destroying her clothes AND HE LAUGHS ABOUT IT— yeahhh. Yeah. You’re done. She gets it from him.
