How does your life move forward, when all you want to do is hold still.

Caitlin's best friend has taken her life, and she needs to find a way to move on with that kind of heartbreak. Not the most cheerful of holiday reads, but one I stayed up reading until 1:30 am the night before Christmas Eve.

I liked the relationships Caitlin developed while grieving. Dylan especially. And how talented she proved to be, proved especially for herself. I guess the people around her already knew.

I find the need to actually take the time to write a review for this book because it is just overwhelmingly good. It wasn't a suspense novel or primarily plot-driven, but I find myself increasingly unable to stop reaading it because it was so captivating and well-written and good. The way the entire story was split up be season created a really nice parallel with Caitlin's rebirth which sort of created a rebirth in Ingrid too. I really liked the writing and sentence structure, and I also really liked how even though it was a book about suicide, it wasn't a book consumed by suicide. The suicide was of course important, but it wasn't stressed in a way that was overdone or made suicide the main focus of the book, which some books do. It was about art and rebirth and starting over and being happy and loving people and friendship and it makes me want to go gytytrgo0pdh because I like it a lot.

I read this two years ago and didn't add it for some reason. I can't really remember it but I do remember I really liked it and I'm sure I cried.

Everything feels perfect—the sunshine, the music, the woman and her tattoos still working away on some never-ending project, Maddy smiling kindly from across the counter—then it hits me. This is how it feels to have friends.

This is very hard to read even for me—I do not easily get triggered by graphic suicide scene, but the repetition is a little bit too much for me.

Trigger warning: Suicide, depression, death of loved one, indication of a threesome sex by minors
