This is the third novel in the Cotton Malone series, bringing back many of the characters we met in the first two books. When Cotton sees that two men have broken in to the local museum, he follows them in and finds them spraying the museum with an unknown substance. The museum ignites and water won't put it out. Cotton finds his friend Cassiopeia close by and knows that she's involved somehow.

Cassiopeia tells Cotton that the leader of the new nation from all the old USSR countries is trying to find coins from Alexander the Great. One of them was in the museum that burned but Cassiopeia was able to get there first and replace it. This leads Cotton and Cassiopeia on a parallel journey to find the coins.

Steve Berry books are a lot of fun. They are great thrillers with a historical element to it that always teaches me something. There were some characters brought in half way through the book that weren't developed and I couldn't remember too much about them from the previous books. It would have been nice to get more of a reminder on these characters.

Still a great book, and a good read for the summer!

I really enjoyed this book. I have become a fan of Steve Berry and the Cotton Mallon series. I really enjoy the mix of History and Fiction and Steve Berry is able seamlessly blend the two together.

The grammar mistakes irritated me, and I didn't enjoy this one as much as Romanov Prophecy.

Very action packed, thrilling and entertaining.

This time we follow Malone, Cassiopeia and Thorvaldsen in a adventure involving Alexander the Great.

What I like the most about Berry's books is how fast paced they are. He can describe the setting in a way you are transported there but aren't overwhelmed with excessive details. The chapters are short so you want to know what happens in the next one. It's full of twist and turns that keeps you at the edge of your seat. He does a good job mixing real and fictional facts.

The only thing I didn't like was Malone overall involvement, even though he deciphered the clues, he was most of the time the muscle.

I recommend it to those who like Dan Brown's novels, with action, puzzles, mysteries, history and adventure.
Spoiler This one is about a ficticios nation that wants to use biological weapons and then profit from a cure found in Alexander the Great’s tomb. The cure is real, Casiopea is cured from aids thanks to it. In the end the threat is stopped.

All-in-all: Entertaining but you'll need to stretch to follow & believe the logic -- and that gets old

Really more like 3 1/2 stars. I liked the story but there were parts I just skimmed, and for the last quarter of the book, I was just wanting it to be done because it seemed to be dragging. Cotton Malone is back and gets dragged into a mess in the fictional Central Asian Federation, where the supreme minister lets her ambition and ruthlessness dominate her rule. Her obsession with Alexander the great guides her as she and her cohorts develop biological weapons. She was absolutely vicious. Cotton and his friends and colleagues get involved when it is discovered that the supreme minister had a friend killed in her pursuit of elephant medallions related to Alexander the great. Lots of interesting history about Alexander.
