Average mystery. I was able to predict most if not all of the plot twists. I didn’t expect such a strong family drama element, and I actually liked it because it  gave all the characters good dimension and the ending was actually hopeful because of it.
I don’t find it believable that Floyd had no idea about Ellie and Poppy. He was so sinister and strange from the beginning, so to find out that he was just dumb was annoying.

I loved this book. Ive not read many mystery/ thriller books before so perhaps I need to get more into them. I loved the characters and the plot and the ending. I was feeling everything the characters were and My emotions were up and down. I loved how the book shows the reality of a loss of a family member and how it can sometimes break a family apart rather than bringing them closer together. I loved the deep feelings that Laurel was showing and how it made me feel. What happened to Ellie was destroying and shocking and left me feeling twists in my stomach. I love when a book can make me feel the emotions of the characters. I am glad poppy had her happy ending and that she wasn't left in the sidelines. Ive read many books that contain multiple perspectives but I've never read one with this many. I didn't know if i liked it or disliked it at first but now I realise it had me knowing the characters more and understanding their different opinions.

This book started off fine, but then it started feeling corny and I liked it less and less through the middle… but I’m so thankful I held on because in part five it drew me straight back in and it finished extremely strong. I’m in tears and it earned a 4.5 in the end.

Lisa Jewel took me on a twisty, horrifying journey. The characters were complex and mysterious, everyone has secrets and the relationships feel so real and tender, especially the mother daughter relationship throughout.
I knew pretty much the way the story would unravel from early on but that didn't lessen the shock, sadness or horror at how the life of Ellie Mack ended and the family struggling to come together again, but also the beauty of the moments when they finally did.
My favourite Lisa Jewel so far.

Easily one of my favorite books lately. At no point did I have a prediction for how something was going to pan out, which is exactly the kind of book I like to read. It’s painfully real and emotionally jarring. Lisa KNOWS how to write a villain the way real life does, like a regular person. You will go through all the stages of grief, yet love every minute of it.
