Frog Song celebrates frogs from around the world by incorporating fun facts, beautiful illustrations, and onomatopoeia to express each frog’s special song. For readers who want to know more about each frog mentioned, there are additional resources on the back pages of the book.

I loved the short fact filled pages that spanned the globe. The illustrations were beautiful. I could use this book as an introduction to amphibians. This informative book could lead to many interesting projects of various curriculums.

I learned several new and gross things about some gorgeous frogs. Way cool.

My son was less interested; maybe we'll try again when he's a little older.

Luscious watercolors and nice text (with onomatopoeic elements) shows the environments of frogs around the word.

Stunning illustrations and quite a bit of information about all kinds of frogs, great classroom connections.

I liked the illustrations, but I thought the content could have been more varied rather than just how the different frogs cared for their eggs/tadpoles etc.

The illustrations are beautifully realistic, but I feel like the book was more about various species' reproductive habits than their individual songs. The sounds they make were also included, but they weren't the main focus. Also, the last page featuring dinosaurs just didn't fit for me.

BEAUTIFUL illustrations! Really great facts- I learned a lot! Also great examples of onomatopoeia! Adding to my classroom wish list! Kids will really get in to this! (Especially if they already love frogs and toads!)

We all wanted more of this book. The illustrations by Gennady Spirin are beautiful. The text is informative and captivating. As an adult I loved that the information about egg laying and birth was maintained as a theme throughout the entire book, but that we weren't hit over the head with it. The kids loved the "interesting" or "gross" facts.

Frog Song answers frog questions, offers fun frog sounds to read, and prompts further questions… I know I have need for further inquiry… especially about the Surinam toad hatching those froglets out of her skin. Kids will find this and other frog facts fascinating, because really, frogs are interestingly unusual. And that this book of a relative few frogs from all around the world can be so diverse opens the reader/listener up to a lot of possibilities and questions. The teacher's guide - http://www.brendazguiberson.com/learning/frogsong-activities.pdf - offers a variety of good ideas for a nice range of grades and difficulty.
