Special episode dragged on a bit. Expected finale but loved this manga through and through all the same. Will become a comfort read in the future 100%. Characters were funny and had personal growth, loved seeing their journey. Sad there isn’t an anime for the entirety.

A BUNDLE OF PERFECTION AND JOY. Any review I give here would be inadequate, I need to speak very loudly and wave my hands about to communicate even a fraction of the joy that is the Ouran experience. 5 stars

Review from a reread of this series:

Oh how I have missed this world and these characters! This is truly one of the best shoujo mangas in existence! I actually had watched the anime adaption way before reading this for the first time, and it has been a while since I last reread this series. Tamaki and Haruhi are too adorable, and my love for Kyoya continues growing with each volume and reread. This series perfectly combines comedy, romance, adventure, and crazy! It's a bit of a satire at moments and blissfully aware of its trope. The story is perfect, and it ended beautifully! I really loved rereading this!

Oh man, oh man, oh man!! This volume was so good. I can’t believe the series is over! I want more; although I do admit that it ended really well and in the correct place, it would have been difficult to continue the story without a decrease in quality.
The first episode explains the aftermath of the events of volume 17; the Host Club is reinstated and Tamaki’s family is happy. It then focuses on Tamaki’s inability to decide on the perfect first date for Haruhi, which is solved when Haruhi invites him to the amusement park.
The second episode focuses on their first date. It starts off as a bit of a mess at the amusement park but end ups really nicely as Tamaki asks to visit Kotoko’s grave. The episode ends with Haruhi’s confession that she has decided to go and study in America for a year.
The third, and final, episode begins where the previous one ended with Ranka bursting out from where he was hiding and declaring his support for Haruhi. There is then a huge leaving party for Haruhi at the Host Club. This was meant to end in the revelation that Haruhi is a girl, but after Haruhi is presented in a dress the girls exclaim that they already knew. However at the airport when Ranka finds out Tamaki is also going to America he yells out about his daughter in front of the Host club customers who are shocked. It turns out they just thought Haruhi was a girly (likely gay) boy, who would look good in cross-dress and they supported his forbidden love with Tamaki. On arriving in Boston Haruhi and Tamaki discover that the rest of the Host Club has also decided to study abroad and have moved into the same building as them.
At the end of the book there is a special side story which focusses more on Kyoya. The Host Club travel to Spain to meet with Kyoya’s family at Akito’s omiai with Nanako. It is Kyoya’s job to show Nanako that she can stand up to her family and follow her dreams, saving Akito from having to marry her. I liked this episode because it showed more of Kyoya’s character. It showed off a more cheeky side to Kyoya and I almost expected him to end up engaged to Nanako instead.
Also scattered throughout the book there are lots of brief peeks at everyone’s futures. These are a bit basic and Hatori hadn’t decided on them herself but wanted everyone to have an idea about where the characters are headed. The book ends with Haruhi and Tamaki’s future and gorgeous picture of Haruhi in Tamaki’s arms in her wedding dress.
This final volume of the series was lovely, lighthearted and made me laugh a lot. It finished of the series incredibly well and so receives five stars.

AHHHH!!! Haurhi tells Tamaki and he confesses his return love. They begin dating in this volume and go on their first date. We find out that the exchange program is real and was used too try and separate her from Tamaki. Haruhi decides to go and the Host Club reveals her "secret" at her farewell ball. Tamaki and Haruhi are so adorable dating..., I want more and I would love to have to read through their marriage. I also love how Tamamki and the Host Club ends up going along to the States with Haruhi. I love that they will not be separated. I wonder about Kyoya and how he sees Haruhi. I expected him to have feelings for her as well..., but he admits to only marrying or dating of it can bring benefits to his family. I would think he would want to go after anything or anyone he wants. Anyway. I love it all! I am sad it is over.
