I've been trying to avoid YA for a while, because I got tired of used and reused tropes and cliches. For the most part, this book stayed away from too many of them, especially, my all time least favorite, the love triangle.

The book hooked me from the start. Without really giving anything away, it starts with a chase scene, and the suspense from that scene and others throughout the book kept me reading and made me not want to put the book down. Unfortunately, there were definitely some slower moments, some plot holes, and some parts where the characters' actions made no sense except to move the plot forward. Despite those parts of the book, I still enjoyed it overall.

I will say, it was weird to read about a book that juxtaposes the original print copies of books with digital versions, and idolizes the print version, while I was reading it on my Kindle. It was a book about books, and regardless if it was an original or a "blank" (or digital version) it did emphasize the power of books in any form.

My sister has been telling me that I HAD to read this series and I finally started. Took me longer than I thought but that's because life got very busy.
Can not wait to read the rest. Did warn my sister that I will be mad at her if these do not have a happy ending

I had seen the description of this book a while ago on Amazon or Goodreads, but as that I already have hundreds of books in my TBR list, I didn't want to let this one jump to the front of the line. But then I won a paperback copy in an online contest! Gotta toss it to the front then!! Well I loved it so much that I bought the kindle version and let a friend borrow the paperback so we could discuss!! It's not very often that I would do something like that, but since we are both such big readers, how could I pass up sharing a book series called The Great Library??

My love for books came a little late in life. At the time, I was a reader of physical books in hand. Since then I have only kept my favorites in print and have adopted various editions of kindle readers. Sure, I love the feel and smell of a book, but I love the convenience of an e-reader more.

Whether or not you agree with me, Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine will transport you to a world where it is illegal to own real books. Imagine that you’re only allowed to own “blanks” which will provide you with the information and stories approved to be read by “The Great Library” of Alexandria (google for a history lesson). If you are caught in possession of an original work, it is confiscated and you are prosecuted. The wealth of information and knowledge is protected and distributed by The Great Library.

This one was very hard for me to get into and honesty, just like in general. I also had a hard time liking the concept of the book. I did like the characters and the storyline. It also makes you wonder about library use, and the book truly makes you think about some things. I might read the second book to just try and figure out what happened to the characters.

I almost skipped past this series when I saw it suggested online mostly because though I'm an avid Harry Potter fan I tend to stay away from YA geared fantasy but I am SO glad I decided to give it a go. I would have missed out on my new favorite series. Books, knowledge, book smuggling, magic and secrets you simply cannot miss this one It's a no brainer for anyone with a love of fantasy or books about books or books with an academia setting. There is something in here for everyone.
