The book follows Shadow and Alex, both have issues with their past, both chose to deal with in different ways and both are trying to not let it destroy their new found relationship.
The book involves Shadow, part of a biker club and Alex, a bookstore owner that meet. They know there is something there but with mounting club problems and a past that is catching up to her, Alex and Shadow have to find a way to deal with it all and come out on the other side.
I didn't mind the story, some parts were interesting but for the most part I found it quite boring and unbelievable. The action was short, clipped scenes and the characters spent little time together before falling for each other.

Shadow
Alex Carpenter
----------------------------------
What happens?
Alex is in hiding. She turns up at the book store many years ago and is taken in by the kind old owner. During the time she stays with her the owner passes on and leaves the store to Alex. Alex enjoys the visits from Shadow who stops in for a coffee and reads a book without buying a book but leaves $20 every time.
During one such visit Alex challenges him leaving money and it starts the ball rolling a bit faster. When Shadow realises she is unprotected with a poor security system he arranges for her to become better protected and eventually has to protect her from the unknown assailant attacking his club and seemingly focusing on her.
Final thoughts
This was a good read. I liked the twists and thought they were interesting. Its not so much of a mystery of who is doing what but its nice watching the romance develop.

finally, my Shadow is here. I will wait for however long it takes for L. Wilder to finish a book. they are so worth the wait.
Ladies, Ladies, Ladies, and gentlemen if you read this amazing author sweet. but anyway, let’s talk about this amazing book. WAIT!!! I want to take a minute and say if you haven't read her Devil Chasers then what are you waiting for. Next if you haven't read the other Satan's Fury then HELLO, why are you waiting so long. I am almost done, if you haven't read Blaze yet then seriously what are you waiting for, no you don't need to read to follow on with Shadow but come on its the first in the Memphis Chapter so why not start from the beginning. Along with the writing getting better and better as it goes forward let’s talk about the covers. Shadow is one of my favorite cover that she has done, SHHHHHH just don't tell Smokey and Big and Stitch.
If you have read Blaze, then you have seen Shadow. you fall in love with this silent broken man. he doesn’t say much but you can tell that he has lead a hard life. well you know most of the Fury has lived a hard life. this book started with a bang. I was hooked from the start. I just knew L. Wilder was going to put my man through the ringer. I ignored everything including sleep because I was so enraptured with this book that I never wanted to leave the Fury. in this book it opens with Alex, she has a tough go of things but when she comes to a book store he hearts feels at home and even more so with the owner Hallie. I can relate girl. I feel at home when I enter the library or the bookstore. anywhere that has books is my safe harbor. you know Alex is running from something, but she just never found it till Shadow started to come in. Shadow needed a place to recharge and just be, when he walked into the bookstore he knew he found just the place even just for an hour. I loved how he just kept coming and coming till Alex took a chance on him. from then things changed between them and Shadow decided to be selfish even though he knows, or he thinks she deserves better. but the thing with Alex and Shadow is that even if the past comes between them they will always end up on top.
I have read everything from L. Wilder and I can confidently say that her writing gets better and better. there is no dead air in this book, that means there are no parts or chapters that you may think the book should have ended, you just don’t get that feeling in this book. not to mention the descriptive vibes you get from this book make it seems like it should be the next MC TV series on tv. and yes, I know who would play who right down to the Pres. Gus. I especially loved the flashback from Shadow. they hurt my heart and have me scared for him to think on his past. I absolutely loved this book and I cannot wait for the next one. I know who I want and so does L. Wilder. I hope you enjoyed Shadow just as much as I did.

Alex stumbled into the bookstore when she first arrived in Memphis, and she felt at home, with circumstances she ended up staying with the owner and living a life she didn’t think possible.
Everyday a hot biker would come in for a coffee and stay a while then leave, and she started looking forward to seeing him.
The only thing that helped Shadow with the pain from his past was going to the bookstore and seeing the beautiful owner.
Seeing Alex again, Shadow can’t help the feeling he gets to protect her and see her again. When Shadow lets Alex know he’s broken, she lets him know he’s not and they can’t fight the pull between them anymore.
As much as Shadow feels the pain less when he is with Alex, she feels that something was missing in her life, Shadow made her feel whole again, but she knew it wouldn’t last, he didn’t know her past and that her father was an infamous drug dealer in California.
Shadow knows Alex is running from something, but what happens when what she’s running for comes looking for her and straight to the Satan’s Fury, will they both continue to see the light or return to the darkness and shadows.

Start with insta-love, add a large helping of stilted and awkward writing, and a hint of homophobia and this is what you get.

Love this series
Loved this book as much as the original series. All of the characters stay with you and keep you involved even though the other books. Can't wait for the next one!
