I enjoyed 501 Things You Should Really Have Learned About History more but this book was still pretty good. It covers a lot of topics and each of them in less than a page. This makes it great for a bathroom book or for someone that only ever gets a few minutes at a time to read.

I loved this book. I'm college educated but didn't pay attention to any history other than what I could use in my D&D game. This had hilarious stuff like animals being tried for witchcraft but also things I should have known the details of like Watergate, the Cuban Missile Crisis etc...

I feel like by reading these short synopsis about these 100's of events was time well spent and much more effective than taking a history class or reading more in-depth books that concentrate on just a couple topics.

Definitely suggested for the history class sleepers out there.

So this book was really interesting with the fast facts but I didn’t finish when I realized just how Eurocentric it is. You get through about 4,000 years without hearing much about Africa (other than a little of Egypt) or South America until Columbus “discovered” the New World. There’s a lot of interesting information but considering the book is supposed to tell me things I should have learned, it mostly just reminded me of the things I did learn in History class.
