I didn't realize how much I had missed Nick and his misfit friends until I started reading Illusion this morning. And I have to say I am awed by this second to last installment in The Chronicles of Nick series!

This and all my other reviews are originally posted on my blog (un)Conventional Bookviews

I was pretty confused through quite a bit of this story, but not in a bad way. It put me in the same position as Nick. It rocked pretty hard though.

Truly magnificent - this book advanced the series and explained so much about the familial connections that the different characters have to each other.

A great read that was not only gripping but with a lot of well placed humour that had me laughing out loud.

And now, I can't wait another minute before I start reading the next one...

Oh wow! the fun i had with this one! It was so much fun to see all the characters from the original series like tabby, amanda, and others be all like . . . yeah. And Acheron . . . Whoa, was that just trippy!

heck, the book was freaking trippy!

Part V of my #Gautierathon complete! I am now completely caught up with the Chronicles of Nick series.

I really enjoyed this installment as well. We really saw Nick grow and learn to accept who and what he was.
Spoiler I was sad to see that Thorn was behind most of the attacks on Nick. But I think he can still be trusted (at least that is what I'm going to believe for now).

This book dealt with alternative realities which has always fascinated me. I loved seeing how different everyone and everything was in a "normal" world. It was great to see how different all the characters were. I also loved finally finding out who Kody was and the connections she has to other characters.

As always with these books we are introduced to even more characters that I'm sure I will continue to struggle to keep up with. I feel like everyone has so many different backstories and reasons for everything that we may never truly know whose side they are on.

There were parts of this book that just got way to confusing. There are so many different demons and gods and other things it becomes impossible to remember who is capable of what, and at times there were way to many characters all at once, leading to further confusion. Additionally, there were some ideas that were repeated to often, unnecessarily, like the fact that Nick is better of than the other malachia because of his mother, and in places Kenyon's writing dipped n quality. That said, I still loved it because I love the characters and the way they relate to each other, and I still look forward to the next installment.

Holy mother of spoilers!! Ok, if you are not up to date in the Dark Hunters universe be prepared to have some information that you didn't want to know thrown in your face. I was not ready for this mother lode of information.

Back to the book...
Wow.. I was blown away. Feeling that maybe this was not the moment to enter another alternate reality I tought that this book was only to be a funny filler... How wrong was I... This is one of the best books so far since I had very low expectations and it turned out to be one of the most important books so far in this series.

I'm trying not to spoil much but I really liked finding out more about Kody and the Malachai. Seeing an alternative universe is fun since it allows you to think about the reality you know. It's something that is not used much for that purpose so it was a plus.

Go read it! It's great. :)

(Really curious for the next one but I will hold off until I'm up to date in the Dark Hunter Universe)
