One of the weakest series in the Scalzi's opus. I think his talent shines brightest when he writes about the little guys, ordinary people like you and me. Somehow for royalty, nobility and high-level politicians his trademark humor is missing.
A lot of things happened and I feel like nothing happened at the same time.
Still, i will read the next book since Scalzi is mine must-read-everything author.

So much fun. Still a warning for lots of explicit language, but I'm really enjoying this trilogy so far. The end of the book had me laughing outload for at least five minutes as I listened to it in the car - it is rare that books can do that.

Absolutely still fun space opera/political intrigue. The characters do not disappoint, and the witty banter is strong. That said, the beginning of the book was a little bogged down in explaining. I read the second half in one sitting though. Looking forward to the next (last?) book.

Well, this book was just a whole lot of fun. I kept having to read bits of it aloud to my husband because I couldn't keep the sheer pleasure of the humor all to myself. It was great to watch Cardenia and Marce and Kiva grow into their roles, and to watch them respond to the new science and old political structures that drive the plot of the story. I'm hoping for a little more of Kiva in the next one, honestly, because I love a mouthy heroine, but she did a lot of validating standing up for herself in this one, because that's what she does. Looking forward to the next for sure.
