Another trilling read by Karin Slaughter. Her books are nasty and gripping, building up tension and leading you to the resolution of the mystery. Though that means the end is never very surprising, the stories are well set up. Hoping
Will and Sara will find their way to each other. It's time for Angie to go, really hate her guts!

I was so excited to find a new mystery series I liked with a female crime novelist. But then I started to get annoyed at the number of times that Faith (half of the duo we're supposed to get behind) kept referring to Will as a p-word and getting frustrated that he wasn't "masculine enough." The only purpose for that addition to the story seemed to be that Will uncharacteristically went too far and beat up a witness, telling Faith she can't have it both ways. Not feeling too sympathetic towards Faith at this point.

But then at the end of the novel, Will, our protagonist, the one we're supposed to love, rapes his wife in the middle of an argument (she repeatedly tells him to stop.) And further, there is there is seemingly no remorse or discussion that it was in fact a rape - because his wife is known as promiscuous and wild and abusive, and because she appears to have enjoyed it in the end. That doesn't matter if he continued when she told him to stop. I'm very disappointed in what ended up happening with these characters and in Karin Slaughter. I guess I'll have to go find a new crime author.
