I did not like BJ and Magnolia. I hate the premise of the book. I was annoyed while reading, always hoping thinks would turn out exactly the opposite. Not worth the pain I felt while reading.

BJ is so condescending. He knows he made mistakes, mistakes he cannot even explain with good reasons. For him to even think he deserves her back... Is so delusional. And him wanting her to also take blame. No way! She did not cheat, she just had flings (without sex) after you led her down. Meanwhile you slept with her best friend and then everyone else in the whole of London and blamed your drug use on Magnolia. It is so clear they are not and were never meant to be. And all the other characters supporting their toxic relationship are also so frustrating. Only good character was Tom, he at least really cared for Magnolia. Also why did everyone have to be intertwined with more than one person? Ahh so frustrating. Also I hate all the brand name dropping. Yeah I realise you're rich but shut up!

Read this if you want relationship drama mixed with a bit of mystery and then some kinda random poetical things about love. I love romance so the fact that this was mostly about a relationship I found it super fast paced. Not much plot and more about their character and how they navigate their lives. I also liked reading about the side characters and everyone is really rich which makes it even more entertaining. I also liked the friendship dynamics and it's dual POV in first person.

My feelings about this book are so complicated that even a week after reading I'm still not totally sure how I feel.

One thing I know for sure is I love Magnolia Parks as a character. Her every emotion felt so real and despite how insanely rich and perfect she is, she still felt like a character that anyone could connect to based on her experiences. I absolutely loved her. The other element of this book that I felt was worthy of a 5 star rating was the writing. It was poetic and beautiful and made every feeling experienced on page a feeling that was viscerally experienced by the reader at the same time. I feel like I can't even accurately describe it because it just made me feel everything so intensely, even though there are virtually no elements of this plot that I could relate to my reality.

Things I absolutely hated in this book is where the rating falls. Number one and most hated thing about this book is BJ Ballentine. I hate that man and if I read another book in the story and they end up together I will rip my hair out. I love Magnolia and I understand the soul deep bond she feels with BJ, but after the fuck shit he did and literally
admitted on page to enjoying and not giving two fucks about Magnolia while doing
I do not fuck with that man. I also think the way he behaves throughout the story is deeply immature and infuriating and he continually treats Magnolia (who is perfect and beautiful) like absolute dogshit. The other part of the book I hated so much was how absolutely repetitive and never-ending the plot was. There was genuinely a part of reading this where I questioned whether I was reading After 2.0 because the whole plot here is: fight, make up, immediately fuck up the making up part by rubbing it in the other person's face that your with someone else, feelings are hurt, fight again, make up. Very big yikes and very not entertaining or fun to read.

So, this is why I have such complicated feelings about this book! The things I loved were things I love so much it hurts my heart and the things I hate are things I hate so much I want to scream and/or rip my hair out. Also, the ending of this book stomped directly on my heart and just to re-iterate, fuck BJ.  And if Magnolia ends up with him I will riot. Okay, that was convoluted and rambling review, but I think I'm done. Can't wait to read the next book in this universe!

I feel like I shouldn’t like this as much as I actually did but if you know me you know I love mess and drama that’s not mine🫣that being said this was everything I wanted minus the amount of obnoxious name dropping and price tags thrown around, I could definitely do with out. So those details took me a while to just get over because the flashy pretentiousness is what the characters are. But once you get past that you really get to figure out what the heck is going on with these characters, point blank periodt - they have too much access to mommy and daddy’s money and hunny they don’t know what to do with it!!

There was a point where Christian literally had me cackling, looooorrrddtt that man!!!🤣 there are a lot of names of friends being thrown about and so you really only get maaaaybe 4 or 5 vaguely fleshed out characters, so I’m hoping we get a better grasp on whose who in the next installment.

This is by no means a “love story”, it’s toxic AF, it’s messy, there’s constant backstabbing, there’s a lack of communication and bitterness and grudges held. We could also say we need better friends lol

There is heavy drug affiliation in here and drug abuse, potential OD, lots of mental health/anxiety rep with these characters.

I can’t wait for my hold on book 2 comes in 🥹🥹

The perfect Gossip girl-esque, drama-filled book! Absolutely incredible, audibly gasped at parts and the ending…. Way better than I imagined, can’t wait to read more
