This was the second time I tried to read this book. The first time I tried to read it, there was something within it that grated and I found myself putting it down, unable to finish. I found that I despised almost every character and the stupidity of their actions.

I left it for a year, went back and picked it up again only to be stunned by the world that Toni Morrison had created. It is a fascinating book and I recommend that everyone at least try it, but at the same time at the end I'm stuck here, unable to figure out if I liked it or not. It made me think, pulled me into another world, one full of fantasy, but also full of grief. I can't say that I liked the book.

But I'm incredibly glad I read it.

Top of the shelf literature from one of the literary maestro's of our time. It's tough to beat Morrison for her storytelling skills and character development let alone her deftness with language and fashioning story threads throughout. And humor! I demand humor in my favorite reads no matter the subject matter and Toni does not disappoint here.

One of the very few books I've read more than once, and I could read it several more times, assured that I would get more out of it in each reading. One of my most read authors. Thank you for delivering this masterpiece, Toni Morrison.
